Rental Policies and Procedures
Please make reservations at least 6 weeks in advance of your event. Reservations with less than 4 weeks advance notice may not be accepted.

Rental Space Capacity
Main Hall 780 sq. ft., 30ft. x 26ft.
Seated at Round Tables: 60 people
Theater/Lecture Style: 80 people
Standing Reception: 100 people
Corporate and Individual Rental Fees
4 hours: $850.00
Each additional hour: $175.00
Non-Profit Rental Fees
4 hours: $400.00
Each additional hour: $75.00
Rental Fee Includes:
- Use of 6 conference tables and 60 chairs
- Use of the catering kitchen
- Use of A/V equipment
Rental Fee does not Include:
- Use of the studio/classroom
*In special instances, the studio/classroom may be available for an additional fee of $50 per hour.
For groups interested in visiting Bush-Holley House or the Visitor Center exhibition and museum shop, there is an additional charge of $4 per person. It is at the discretion of the Historical Society to determine the number of additional staff needed.
A deposit of 50% is required upon signing of the rental contract. The remaining payment is due two weeks prior to the scheduled event.
Cancellation must be received in writing. If the Historical Society receives notice of your cancellation more than 30 days before the event, your deposit will be refunded.
There is no refund of deposit if you cancel 30 days or less before the event.
Curfew and Overtime
All events must end by 10 p.m.
Please be sure your designated rental period includes time for set up and clean up. The time listed on your contract for starting is the time the first person enters to prepare for the event. The closing time is when the last person leaves after clean up. We must be able to notify our attending staff members as to the inclusive hours. If your event goes beyond its scheduled time, an overtime fee of $175 per hour corporate rate or $75 per hour non-profit rate will be charged.
Parking is available in the museum’s lot on Strickland Road and by prior arrangement at the Cos Cob Marina parking lot located also located on Strickland Road. There is no parking available, with the exception of two handicapped parking spaces located on the back driveway.
Businesses or Organizations:
In order to rent the Historical Society facilities, you will be required to have your insurance company provide a Certificate of Liability insurance for a minimum of $1 million, naming Greenwich Historical Society as an additional insured for this event.
In order to rent the facilities, you must provide a certificate of your homeowner’s or renter’s insurance for a minimum of $2 million. There should be no additional charge from your insurance company for a copy of this certificate.
You will be required to remove all personal property and debris and leave the facility in the condition it was prior to your arrival. Garbage receptacles are available in the building. Garbage receptacles will be emptied by staff.
Decorating and Catering
If your event requires any advance meetings at the site with florists, caterers, etc., you must arrange these appointments in advance with the Historical Society. All plans for decorating the space must be presented to and approved by a staff person at the Historical Society.
The Education Center is located in a residential neighborhood; a reasonable noise level must be maintained and is enforceable at any time by the Historical Society rental supervisor. Hired musicians or DJ’s must be presented to and approved by a staff person at the Historical Society.
Smoking is prohibited in the Education Center and on the grounds.
The display or sale of commercial goods is forbidden.
There will be no lewd behavior, drunkenness or behavior that could harm others. The renter is expected to enforce this policy or will forfeit the right to rent the Education Center.
All policies, procedures and fees are subject to change without notice. The Greenwich Historical Society reserves the right to require additional restrictions as circumstances necessitate.
